In the ingenious design of a CNC Swiss machine, the sliding headstock artfully advances a segment of the metal stock through the guide bushing with precision. Meanwhile, the rest of the workpiece remains securely held within the chuck, safely behind the guide bushing, ensuring that it is not directly exposed to the tooling area. This meticulous process enhances stability and precision, setting the stage for superior machining performance.As the crafting of one section of the workpiece reaches completion, the bar stock is seamlessly moved forward along the z-axis, allowing for the elegant machining of another section. This segmented approach enables parts to be turned with remarkable speed and precision, as it superbly eliminates part deflection even under the pressure of strong cutting forces. This increased accuracy ensures that each component produced is of the highest quality.Contemporary Swiss-style lathes are marvels of modern engineering, often equipped with one or two main spindles, complemented by one or two secondary back spindles. The main spindle is responsible for the majority of the machining operations, showcasing its prowess in precision crafting. The secondary spindle, strategically located behind the part, plays a crucial role in picking up the part as it is cut off and expertly performing a variety of secondary operations.
